Simultaneous Tree Planting Intensified at 147 Points in East Jakarta

The East Jakarta City administration is intensifying simultaneous tree planting in 147 points with a total land area of ​​7.2 hectares spread across ten sub-districts.

This aims to support the food self-sufficiency program

This tree planting was led by East Jakarta Secretary, Kusmanto and accompanied by Economy and Development Assistant, Fauzi; Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) Head, Taufik Yulianto; and representatives from East Jakarta Metro Police and East Jakarta 0505 Military District Command (Kodim).

Kusmanto explained it was centered in the greenhouse area between Block A, B, C, and D buildings of the mayor's office. The trees planted were 100 polybags of red onions and 30 poly," bags each of eggplant, tomato, and chili.

"This aims to support the food self-sufficiency program that the central government continues to promote," he expressed.

Of 147 points, 43 were in Duren Sawit, 25 were in Ciracas, 16 were in Cakung, 14 were in Cipayung, 12 were in Pulogadung, nine were in Pasar Rebo, eight were in Kramat Jati, eight were in Jatinegara, seven were Matraman, and five were in Makasar.

He added it was also to educate the public about land or yard utilization.

"Even though the land is narrow, it can still be used for urban farming," he asserted.

Tree planting above received appreciation from East Jakarta TP PKK Acting Chairwoman, Linda Kusmanto.

"Hopefullty, this program becomes a planting movement for Jakarta residents," she hoped.

East Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Taufik Yulianto explained there were hundreds of seeds provided, starting from 200 Breadfruit seeds and 150 polybags and 144 sachets of Chili seeds.

Then 45 sachets of glutinous corn seeds, 42 sachets of kale seeds, 37 sachets of sweet corn seeds, 19 sachets of spinach seeds, and 10 kg of peanut seeds.

She hoped that it could motivate the community to further realize the importance of food self-sufficiency in Jakarta.

"With food self-sufficiency, hopefully, the price stability can be maintained, farmers' welfare can be improved and dependence on imported products can be reduced," he uttered.
